Federal Government's Share of Lottery Proceeds
Many people are unaware that the Government of Canada terminated its involvement in lotteries as of January 1, 1980 . In return, the ten provinces agreed to contribute an annual sum of $24,000,000 adjusted for inflation, to the Federal Government.
If you're wondering what that contribution is worth these days, the Public Accounts of Canada 2004 report indicates that $59,267,337 was paid in 2003-2004 and $57,666,332 in 2002-2003.
