Casino Gambling in Ohio [Online Reports]

Two studies were just released that examine the potential economic and social impact on Ohio if casino gambling were legalized in that State. They are: 1) State of Ohio Gaming Market Assessment (2005, August), and; 2) The Social Costs of Casino Gambling for Ohio: A Review of What is Known and Estimates of Future Expenses (2005, August). Both studies were prepared for The Greater Cleveland Partnership and Selected Cincinnati Area Businesses and are available from the Ohio Gaming Info web site.

The American Policy Roundtable has also put out a scathing five-page critique of these two papers on their web site... see "A Review of the 2005 Greater Cleveland Partnership Study on Casinos for Ohio".

i think it's a shame how many people from Ohio are at Mountaineer every weekend. that's money our state could use. when are we going to wake up and realize the steel mills are not going to reopen and there is no new businesses opening any where around Youngstown. we are falling further and further behind. there would be so many new jobs and businesses that would be needed if Youngstown had a casino. as for the religious opposition, if you can bring in as many jobs as a casino would offer, please do so or butt out. sorry to sound so hostile but i can't understand voting against something that could revitalize our community.

The shame is not that some money is leaving our state but that we who live here have to foot the bill and we could lower our owne taxs with the money from taxs on gaming
